Barbara Russ

Barbara was raised on a quarter horse farm in Louisville as the youngest of seven children.  Barbara attended the University of Kentucky and Bellarmine University.  Barbara’s love for the legal field began after leaving college when she worked as a legal assistant at a small law firm in Louisville.  She knew then that she could use her love of writing combined with her passion of working with people.

Barbara has lived in Virginia, Indiana, North Carolina as well as Wuerzburg, Frankfurt and Wiesbaden, Germany.  While in Germany, Barbara worked for the Department of Defense, including a position as an administrative assistant to the Commander of the American Forces Network Europe.  After living in Germany for five years, Barbara and her family moved to Bullitt County to be closer to her parents and siblings.  Barbara then began working at Stoll, Keenon & Ogden and eventually took a paralegal position at Buckman Farris & Mills in Shepherdsville.  She was part of that firm for almost 14 years.  During this time period, she was also coordinator for Bullitt County Teen Court.  Wanting to expand her legal skills, Barbara worked at insurance defense firms, Boehl Stopher & Graves and Blackburn Domene & Burchett.  While she learned a lot as an insurance defense paralegal, Barbara wanted to make a difference in individual lives and didn’t feel she could do that while working to defend insurance companies.  This began her search for a plaintiffs’ firm which brought her to the Poppe Law Firm.  Barbara’s desire is to use her paralegal skills as well as life and work experiences to assist clients who are going through some of life’s most difficult challenges.

Barbara is a Certified Kentucky Paralegal.  She serves as a board member and as membership director for the Louisville Association of Paralegals and is a member of the Kentucky Paralegal Association and Louisville Bar Association.  Barbara enjoys spending time with her children, grandchildren and church family.  Barbara also stays busy reading, keeping up to date with current events, gardening, cooking, blogging and listening to all types of music.
